In a heartbreaking incident, three members of the revered gospel group The Nelons lost their lives in a plane crash near Gillette, Wyoming. The victims include:
- Kelly Nelon Clark: A cherished member of The Nelons since 1977, Kelly was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Her unwavering commitment to gospel music touched countless lives.
- Jason Clark: Kelly’s husband and fellow Nelons singer, Jason contributed his powerful vocals and passion to the group. His legacy will resonate in the hearts of fans worldwide.
- Amber Nelon Kistler: The daughter of Kelly and Jason, Amber was a gifted singer and an integral part of The Nelons. Her radiant spirit and talent will be sorely missed.
The Nelons were en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska when tragedy struck. Alongside the three Nelons members, four others lost their lives: assistant Melodi Hodges, Nathan Kistler (Amber’s husband), pilot Larry Haynie, and his wife, Melissa.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the accident. Autumn Nelon Streetman, Jason and Kelly’s youngest daughter, and her husband, Jamie Streetman, were not on the ill-fated plane and have been notified of the tragedy. They join the Nelons’ extended family, friends, and fans in mourning this devastating loss.
Autumn Nelon Streetman’s Statement: “As many of you have heard by now, my father and mother, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, along with my sister, Amber, and brother-in-law, Nathan, as well as our dear friends Melodi Hodges, Larry, and Melissa Haynie were involved in a tragic plane crash on Friday. Thank you for the prayers that have been extended already to me, my husband, Jamie, and our soon-to-be-born baby boy, as well as Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark.”
