Tasha Cobbs Leonard Becomes First Female Franchisee of The Athlete’s Foot in Greensville
The Athlete’s Foot, a leading specialty footwear and lifestyle retailer, proudly announces that GRAMMY-winning gospel artist and entrepreneur, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, has become the first female franchisee of The Athlete’s Foot in Greensville, South Carolina.
Tasha Cobbs Leonard, known for her powerful voice and inspirational music, is now making strides in the business world. As the first female recipient of The Athlete’s Foot’s StAART program (Strategic African American Retail Track), she is set to open the first-ever TAF location in her hometown of Greensville. This milestone not only marks a significant achievement for Cobbs Leonard but also represents a major step forward in increasing African American representation and ownership within the sneaker industry.
“I am incredibly honored to join The Athlete’s Foot family as a franchise owner,” said Tasha Cobbs Leonard. “Opening a store in my hometown of Greensville is a dream come true. I am grateful for the support of the StAART program, which has provided me with the resources and mentorship needed to make this dream a reality. I look forward to contributing to the local community and inspiring others to pursue their entrepreneurial goals.”
The Athlete’s Foot’s StAART program was established to recruit, develop, and mentor Black entrepreneurs through its retail franchise model. The program provides franchisees with access to resources, systems, strategic brand partnerships, and a robust mentorship network, addressing many of the barriers that typically prevent Black entrepreneurs from launching and sustaining their businesses.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tasha Cobbs Leonard as our newest franchisee,” said Darius Billings, Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement at The Athlete’s Foot. “Her passion for the sneaker culture and her commitment to giving back to the community align perfectly with our values. We are excited to see the positive impact she will have on the Greensville community and the sneaker industry as a whole.”
