Salvation Ministries, one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing Christian denominations, today announced the historic dedication of its groundbreaking 120,000-seater cathedral, aptly named “The Hand of God.” Located in the heart of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, this architectural marvel stands as a beacon of faith, unity, and spiritual revival, poised to transform the landscape of worship in West Africa.
The dedication ceremony, which took place on October 27, 2025, drew an unprecedented crowd of over 100,000 attendees, including prominent religious leaders, government officials, international dignitaries, and faithful congregants from across Nigeria and beyond. Led by the visionary founder and Senior Pastor, David Ibiyeomie, the event featured powerful sermons, uplifting worship sessions, and testimonies of divine intervention.
Pastor Ibiyeomie, in his keynote address, emphasized the cathedral’s role in fostering spiritual growth and community development: “This is not just a building; it’s the Hand of God extended to heal, deliver, and empower lives. We dedicate it to the glory of God and the service of humanity.”
Spanning over 20 acres, the cathedral boasts cutting-edge features designed for modern worship experiences. Its expansive auditorium, equipped with advanced acoustics, high-definition LED screens, and climate-controlled seating, ensures comfort for large gatherings.
Additional amenities include multipurpose halls for youth programs, counseling centers, a state-of-the-art medical clinic, and educational facilities aimed at skill development and poverty alleviation. The structure incorporates sustainable elements such as solar-powered lighting and rainwater harvesting systems, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
The project, which began construction in 2018, overcame numerous challenges, including economic hurdles and logistical complexities, through unwavering faith and generous contributions from members worldwide. Valued at over $150 million, the cathedral symbolizes resilience and divine provision, as highlighted in an Instagram reel shared by the ministry (@salvationministriesofficial), showcasing aerial views of the grand edifice, jubilant crowds, and moments of prayer and praise. The reel, viewed by millions, captures the essence of the event with captions reading, “Witness the Hand of God in action! #SalvationMinistries #HandOfGodCathedral.”
This dedication aligns with Salvation Ministries’ mission to spread the gospel, provide humanitarian aid, and promote social welfare. Founded in 1997 by Pastor Ibiyeomie, the ministry has grown from a small gathering to a global network with branches in over 50 countries, impacting lives through evangelism, education, and charity initiatives. The new cathedral is expected to host mega crusades, conferences, and outreach programs, further amplifying its influence.
In a statement, Associate Pastor Jane Doe remarked, “The Hand of God Cathedral is a testament to what faith can achieve. It will serve as a hub for spiritual renewal and community empowerment, touching generations to come.”
