Celebrated gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has clinched the Best Inspirational Single of the Year award at the 17th Headies Awards for her soul-stirring track, “You Do This One.” The ceremony took place on April 27, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, marking a triumphant return of the prestigious awards to Nigeria after two editions abroad.

“You Do This One” stood out among a competitive lineup of nominees, including “Gratitude” by Anendlessocean, “Worthy of My Praise” by Dunsin Oyekan featuring Lawrence Oyor, “Good God 2” by Limoblaze featuring Naomi Raine, and “Particularly” by Gaise Baba featuring Tope Alabi. The song’s profound message and Chinwo’s powerful vocals resonated deeply with audiences, earning her this esteemed recognition.

The 17th edition of the Headies, themed “Back to Base,” celebrated the richness of Nigerian music and its global impact. Hosted by Nancy Isime, the event also saw Rema leading with the most awards, securing two wins out of nine nominations.
