In a generous act of compassion, Pastor Johnson Suleman has announced a donation of 110 million Naira along with essential food supplies to assist the victims of the recent devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State. This initiative aims to provide immediate relief to thousands of families affected by the floods that have submerged homes and displaced countless residents.
The flooding, triggered by the breach of the Alau Dam following heavy rains, has impacted over 239,000 individuals in Maiduguri and its surrounding areas. Many families have been forced to evacuate their homes and seek refuge in overcrowded Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, where access to food, clean water, and sanitation remains critically low.
Pastor Suleman’s donation is part of a broader humanitarian effort to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by this natural disaster. The funds will be allocated for purchasing food items such as rice, beans, and other essential supplies needed for survival during this challenging period.
“We are deeply saddened by the suffering that the flood victims are enduring,” said Pastor Suleman. “This donation is a heartfelt response to their plight. We hope it brings some comfort and relief to those who have lost so much. Our commitment is to stand with them during this difficult time.”
The distribution of food supplies will be coordinated with local authorities and humanitarian organizations to ensure that aid reaches those most in need. Volunteers will assist in delivering food packages directly to IDP camps and affected communities across Maiduguri.
Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude for Suleman’s generous contribution, emphasizing the importance of community support in times of crisis. “We appreciate this timely intervention from Pastor Suleman. It highlights the spirit of solidarity that we need now more than ever,” he stated.
