While most gospel artistes have steered clear of having an opinion about the child-molestation allegation on popular comic actor – Baba Ijesha; fast-rising Nigerian-Canadian worship leader, Akuchay, who also doubles as a professional mental health worker has dropped a major bombshell on this topic that has caused a major stir in the news and cyberspace for the past 3 weeks.
People have spoken against and surprisingly for Baba Ijesha, many tagging him a paedophile while others suggesting that he may just have been setup to settle some personal vendetta. Akuchay on the other hand takes time to set the record straight about the differences between Paedophilia and Child Molestation.
In a 2 part video released on her IGTV page (@iamakuchay), she emphasizes that “Paedophilia” is a mental condition that implies sexual attraction to minors while “Child Molestation” is a sexual harassment crime involving a child as a victim. In essence, the said actor may find an escape route from the hands of the law if he claims to be suffering from the mental condition.
The videos of her elaborate explanations and warnings have since gone viral as popular celebs and influencers like Mercy Johnson, Ronke Oshodi-oke, Tunde Ednut and Instablog9ja have shared the post numerous times on their respective pages.
One of the warnings Akuchay had for parents was to be wary of sending their kids to sleep-overs as most child abuse cases come from familiar people.
This is quite a bold move by someone from the Christian entertainment sector. We need more of us to speak of topical issues that affect the general society, especially from the truth of the Christian worldview. Kudos Akuchay!
