The gospel music community came together to bid a final farewell to the beloved gospel singer and producer, Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, popularly known as KODA. The solemn funeral service was held on September 20, 2024, at the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) Dominion Centre on Spintex Road in Accra, drawing a sea of mourners, including family, friends, fans, and fellow gospel musicians.
KODA, who passed away on April 21, 2024, at the age of 45, was celebrated for his significant contributions to gospel music. His legacy includes timeless hits such as “Nsempii,” “Nkwa Abodoo,” “Yapai,” and “Adorso.” The funeral service was marked by touching tributes and worship performances from notable gospel artists, including Joe Bechem, Mary Ghansah, Uncle Ato, Eugene Zuta, Joe Mettle, and Nii Okine.
In a moving tribute, KODA’s widow and children shared heartfelt memories, expressing their deep love and admiration for the late singer. “KODA was not just a husband and father; he was a beacon of light and inspiration to many,” said his widow. “His music and faith touched countless lives, and his legacy will continue to inspire.”
The service also saw a touching moment as KODA’s colleagues from Mfantsipim Boys’ Secondary School paid their last respects, highlighting the strong bonds and friendships he maintained throughout his life.
The outpouring of love and support from the gospel music fraternity and fans alike underscored the profound impact KODA had on the community. His music, characterized by its powerful messages and soulful melodies, will continue to resonate with listeners for generations to come.
