The headquarters of the Christ Embassy Church, located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, was engulfed in flames on Sunday morning. Videos from the scene circulated on social media, capturing the intensity of the fire.
During a live Sunday service at the church’s campground in Asese, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the president and founder of LoveWorld Incorporated (also known as Christ Embassy), addressed the incident. He emphasized that nothing happens in the life of a child of God by accident. Drawing parallels to a past incident in 2001 when the building vibrated during the Ikeja cantonment bombing, Pastor Chris expressed his resolve to build a bigger, better, and more glorious headquarters. He stated, “Now that this has happened, we will build a bigger, better, and more glorious one, and the devil will lick his wound.”
Officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were swiftly deployed to the scene, working diligently to control and extinguish the fire. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, and there have been no reports of casualties at this time.
The Christ Embassy community remains resilient, united, and committed to rebuilding. Updates on the situation will be provided as further developments unfold.
