Renowned Nigerian gospel artist Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have expressed profound gratitude to outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden for his unwavering commitment to humanity. The couple’s commendation follows their receipt of the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award in October 2024, recognizing their significant contributions to society through music and philanthropy.
In a heartfelt statement, the duo reflected on the transient nature of leadership and the enduring impact of service, quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1: “To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.” They emphasized the importance of the legacy one leaves behind, underscoring values, lives touched, and benevolent deeds.
“We are deeply honored to have received the President Biden Lifetime Achievement Award last year,” they remarked. “This recognition serves as a powerful reminder to remain committed to serving humanity through charity, education, and the principles of faith.”
The President’s Lifetime Achievement Award is among the highest civilian honors in the United States, bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to volunteer service and nation-building. In his commendation letter, President Biden lauded the couple’s dedication: “By sharing your time and passion, you are helping discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face, solutions that we need now more than ever.”
Mercy Chinwo and Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa have made remarkable strides in both the musical and philanthropic arenas. Married in August 2022, they co-founded Grace and Truth Nation (GNT Nation), a music label dedicated to nurturing gospel artists and spreading the message of Jesus Christ through various channels. Their mission is to inspire and encourage individuals to worship God and live out their faith in everyday life.
Complementing their musical endeavors, the couple established the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation, the charitable arm of GNT Nation. The foundation has executed numerous philanthropic projects across Nigeria, including distributing food and cash gifts to economically disadvantaged residents in Port Harcourt’s Rumudara community during the holiday season. Additionally, the foundation has awarded scholarships worth millions of naira to university students, empowering the next generation through education.
